Yoru looked to her, and shook his head, "No, I'm okay." He pushed the scones into the stove and turned around, sitting down across from her on the floor. He stared at her footpaws for a moment, then to her face. "So you paint?" His eyes turned to the satchel and then back to her. "Strange. Most otteresses with... your build, do something more physical." He shrugged them, and made a line on a piece of parchment, marking a minute gone by. "Whatever though, you do what you want, eh?"

Grabbing her satchel, and taking out a piece of smooth charcoal and a pad of parchment, Arista began to move her paw, still staring at his face. She smiled lightly. "Yea...Most beasts I've bumped into have called me a little runt..." she says in an embarrassed tone, looking straight at his eyes. "Weird...In the oven's light, your eyes look a little darker than they really are." she glances down momentarily, before looking back at Yoru. "It's wonderfully different. I'm glad to see them." she said with another blush, her rudder gently tapping against the stone floor they both sat on.

It took a moment for him to realize what she was doing, but when he did, he blushed heavily. Yoru didn't move though, knowing it would be downright rude to do so. "Uhm... Thank you, I think..." He blinked and clenched his paws into fists, making another marking for another minute, then another, realizing he forgot one. "My eyes are the marks of a freak..."

Arista looked at him, her eyes lashes shading her glittering eyes. "Of a freak? Is there such a thing as perfection?" she asked, raising her eyebrows. "There is no such thing as normal. No such thing as perfection. Everybeast has something they could do without." she murmured, looking at the paper with a broad smile. She flips it around to show Yoru-himself. Perfectly sketched on the parchment. "You look like yourself...and that's all anybeast has to do." Arista nodded, giving a grin, her white teeth sparkling. "Yea...I'm gonna have to clean this up and paint it." she says. "This is the best work I've done in a while. I seem to leave a parchment trail wherever I go nowadays."

Yoru's ears lowered and he looked down, briefly looking to the picture. "I'm nothing amazing," he said, though he gave her a soft smile. With a bit of struggling, and a few grunts, he stood up, opening the stove and taking out the scones with his bare paws. "Mmm..." He rubbed his tummy, but mentally reminded himself they were for Arista. "Here," he said, smiling a bit. "A quick meal for ya."

With a lick of her chops Arista stood, placign the pad of parchment on the counter. She inhaled deeply, rubbing her paws together. "Oh, great seasons! These smell wodnerful!" she exclaimed, before looking at Yoru. "Would you like to join me? After all, you made them..." she seemed to revel in the fact that she had gotten him to smile, and did not dismiss any of his comments. "Well, it's not everyday you meet a beast that can make food that smells so grand!" she said happily, twisting her hair about with her paw.

Yoru shook his head quickly, waving his paws. "Nonono, you eat. If I do, I'll end up eating them all." He blushed, and shook his head still. "They're nothing compared to the actual cooks. I just come in here to make my own food. They don't let me work in here."

Taking a warm scone in her paw, Arista sank her pearly white teeth deep into the hot warmth. Her eyes opened wide as the taste hit her fully. She swallows before speaking, touching her mouth with her paw, ever so lightly. "Oh, by the streams and seas! This is wonderful!" she cries, taking another bite. "I don't see why you shouldn't be allowed to work in the kitchens-these have to be the best scones I've ever tasted!" Arista beamed happily, her rudder whapping the stone with a light thud. Sadness permeated her face though, knowing full well how Yoru thought, and how he thought beasts thought of him. "You really do have talent, Yoru. I'd love to do a painting of you cooking!" she said, glancing at the drawing of Yoru's face she had made...

Blushing, the otter lowered his ears in embarrassment while his cheeks visibly grew red in embarrassment. "N-no, Arista. You eat them. I uh..." He pointed to his stomach and fat. "Well, you can see I eat enough." He smiled,... and took a scone with a scowl on his face. "This is why I hate myself." He told her quietly.

Arista's eyes grew soft, and her cheery face grew sad. She, too, could despise herself...she had. The memories of screaming at herself made Arista wrap both arms about her chest. "I've felt the same way. I felt so terrible, I hated myself with a passion." she tohught of the many times...where she had almost...Arista shook her head. "But, I decided...that it was no use. I was who I was..." she shruggedl ightly, taking another scone. "You can't change who you are, so why not embrace it? It makes life easier-" the maid put a paw on top of Yoru's, and she smiled softly. "Especially when you have someone who understands to help you."
