Beauty in the hearts and mind of all beasts, great and small...
That's how Arista's newest poem had begun. She had been allowed into the Abbey. She reveled in the safety. "That's a load of sea glass..." she told herself bitterly, crossing out the perfect cursive with a growl. The wind blew soft and sweet, fragrances hitting her black nose. So many beasts, in such a big place! When she thought no beast was about, Arista began to twirl and dance, her lavender skirt twirling about her. She giggled and whooped as she reveled in the safety and tranquility. 'I'll never be lonely again!!!' her thoughts rang, eyes sparkling and her face as bright as the sun.
...I'm Home...

The otter sighed and grumbled, stuffing more scones into his face. He did, afterall make them. "So I should get to eat them..." He sighed and lowered his ears, his stomach easily overhanging his waistline. He was only getting bigger and bigger, and he must have been the weight of a small badger. He pet his fat breasts and sighed heavier. Of course, this would just mean he'd get made fun of even more. "Life sucks," he mumbled to himself, moving out of the kitchen. But, in front of him stood--well, danced--a very beautiful ottress, making him blush and just stare. "Uh..." He couldn't move though... and all he could think of how he was going to get teased by the new girl...

The twirling and jigging otter maid seemed suspended in animation to her own mind as she twirled and whirled...Until she saw a round, white blur out of the corner of her eye. With a deep blush she stops, completely facing the male otter. She coughs lightly, trying to regain herself. There was a goofy smile of embarrassment plastered to her face. She walks up, every soft step rustling only the tiniest blade of grass. When she approaches the rotund otter lad...she smiles, and extends her petite paw. Arista's smile is as bright as the sun. "I'm Arista-and who might you be?" she asks, fluttering her long eyelashes. A soft breeze blows her blond hair, framing the open, gorgeous face. To many, the albino male seemed unappealing. To Arista's eyes, which saw deeper, he was a kindred soul. Yes, a kindred soul, tortured and beaten from the inside and made into a monster...yet there was a blossom of beauty within. The blush grew deeper as she waited for his paw to grasp her own, her kindness only seemed to become brighter than the sun itself, trying to soothe him...
Made Beastly...Yet So Beautiful...Arista knew that feeling all too well. Being made into something dark, or the butt of jokes...and yet, having the sweetness and kindness that none but kith and kin could see. Arista cold see it...

Yoru stared, watching the otteress. Oh great, she's coming this way, he thought to himself, already taking a few steps back. "M-my name?" he asked, his voice raspy. It was, afterall, the first time he'd spoken in what must have been a week. A week of sitting around, crying, moping and being made fun of. "Uhm...." he coughed into a fat paw, blushing clearly through his white cheek fur. "W-why do you care? All you're going to do is make fun of me..." His pink eyes stared at her paw, but the nuisance of elders grew loud in his head and he winced lightly, grasping her paw with one of his own, much larger and shaking. "Yoru," he mumbled, his eyes getting glued to the floor.

Arista blinked, looking a bit hurt as he accused her before he even knew her. Her blood simmered lightly, before he almost reluctantly shook her paw. The maiden's smile grew again as she heard his name. "It's a nice name..." she said, squatting down to look him in the eye. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Yoru." she beamed, trying to look into his eyes. Although the hurt fueled her to continue, she didn't want to ask the question that came out of her mouth.
"Why would I want to make fun of such a nice name??"

The otter quickly took his paw back, rubbing it with his other. Soft paws... he thought to himself, glaring at the ground. She was being pretty forward, Just like the ones who get to know then hate me, he finished. He turned his head from her, biting his lip hard. "Why wouldn't you? You're probably just like all of the other people, finding any other way to make fun of me!" He glared at her, then turned around, his fat bottom wobbling as he walked towards an exit, and then into Mossflower Woods.

Arista looked at him in surprise, following him with the grace of a deer...Determination etched on her face. "Now, darn it, you wait!!!" she called, reaching out and putting a paw on his shoulder. "I'm in the same boat as you! All my life I've had nobeast but me!" she sighed, closing her eyes lightly. "I suppose was hopeful of finding a real home...and making a good friend." this sounded directed to the round bellied otter. Arista smiled lightly, her own paws quivering with a million emotions about to burst out of her.

Yoru stared at her, actually stopping when she spoke. His mouth opened a bit, then he closed it, looking away in thought. "I still can't trust you," he said, looking up to her. His pink eyes showed many emotions, all negative. "I dont' know you, and I've never been able to trust anybody in my life." He continued to stare at her, then around the Abbey Grounds. It was eerily quiet, seeing as spring was approaching.

Arista laughed lightly-it wasn't really out of amusement, but bitterness and irony. "Somebeast who's been hurt can usually trust a stranger..." she said sagely, her blond hair wild and tangled in front of her face. The maiden reached down slowly, and took hold of his bigger paw in her own. "Please, Yoru...I'd like you to trust me." she said, honest and sincere in the tone of her voice. "Tell me how to do that, and I'll prove that I'd never hurt you." she looked about the grounds, anger laid in the ice of her eyes. "Anybeast who could say anything so cruel over these seasons to you, to make you distrust all...they're not worth your frustration. " she sighed, looking at him seriously. "I want to be your friend, Yoru...Please, tell me what I can do to show you." she felt such a connection with this otter lad, and seemed to not tolerate the thought of him alone...
You Won't Be Alone Anymore, Yoru... Just Give Me A Chance, And Trust Me...

The otter stared back at her, a look of thinking on his face still. "Why do you want to be my friend? We just met." He stared at her with a hard look on his face, crossing his arms over his fat chest, making it harder to do. "I'm not trying to be mean," he said, his eyes falling downwards. "It's just... hard to trust people. My own bloody parents abandoned me and left me here, so it's easy to see why."

Arista nodded, her own eyes falling. "My parents were killed in a fire...I was just a kit, my eyes were barely open." she says sadly, shaking her head. "My nursemaid took care of me, before she died...I've been on my own since I was very small." she looked back up, pain on her face. "I've been captured, nearly enslaved and everything else under the sun..." Arista smiled lightly, bitterly, sadly...Her eyes became glassy with moisture. "I saw the same hurt in you...and knew you and I had something in common." she admits, putting a hand on his arms. "Can't you agree neither of us wants to be lonely, or hurt anymore??" she asks, emphasizing the words with a slight crack in her voice.

No emotion showed on his face as she told a shortened version of her life story. He merely stared at her. "Ergh..." He looked away a bit, flinching as her paws went to his arms. "I'll...." He sighed and closed his eyes, nodding lightly. "I'll be your friend... It doesn't mean I trust you though. You still have to earn that..."

Arista chuckled lightly as he relented, and she pushed her hair back slowly. "I didn't expect your trust to come easily..." she said, shouldering her heavy satchel. The otter maid had no trouble in smiling, and forgetting about the pain... A gust of wind made her shudder however, and a loud grumble was carried away with the wind. Arista blushed hard. "I-I'm sorry..." she said, looking down. "I haven't had a decent meal in seasons..."

Yoru blinked, and motioned for her to follow. "C'mon," he mumbled heading towards the Abbey. When they entered, he led her to the kitchen and started to cook. "It's all I'm good at," he said, starting to make some strawberry and blueberry scones. "And nobody can make fun of me in here..."

Arista sat down at the counter, putting her satchel on her lap for a moment with an 'oof!' "I know how you feel." she says, resting her forehead on the bag. "My drawings are my life..." with this, she puts the bag down somewhere it won't cause a fire or be tripped over. "Um.." she bites her lower lip lightly, standing. "I can help if you like, I feel awful bad just watching you." she says, leaning against the counter top lightly. Her mind went over his words a millions times, and then a million more.
'And nobody can make fun of my in here...' Arista wrapped an arm about her chest, ears flattening against her skull.
